Not bloody likely, sir

By the time you reach the age of 30, your salary level should be four times your age. If not, go and check what’s wrong with your career. See a career doctor. Don’t trust your self-assessment.

I approve of this dude saying that you should be “a winner in your own country.” But to suggest that you’re doing something wrong if you’re 30 and you don’t make P120,000 a month is sheer idiocy. I’d like to see him help a freelance writer bag enough jobs and heck, have enough energy to do work that will even help her make P50,000 a month. At the same time, I’d also like to see him find companies that are willing to pay people that much and aren’t the sort who try to pay their employees the lowest salaries possible. Additionally, being 30 doesn’t mean you’re automatically qualified to receive that kind of salary, nor does it mean you’re indeed the best, most skilled employee out there.
