WTF, you sexist poll
Like the title says. Why can’t you ask “What kind of person are you when it comes to choosing laundry detergents?” Why do you automatically assume that all such household decisions are made only by women in all households? Why … Continue reading
Samebods, not Superbods
I thoroughly enjoyed Century Tuna’s ad for the Superbods contest this year. The crop of finalists, however, leaves a lot to be desired. Seems like having a Superbod simply means you have to be thin and be the same size … Continue reading
Spreading ignorance
My mother’s been watching a GMA 7 afternoon soap opera entitled Hiram na Puso, and while it has all the usual elements–melodrama, shoddy acting, poor writing–I give it the stick for spreading ignorance. Lira, Kris Bernal’s character, received a heart … Continue reading
Um, no
Dear Coke, I love you, but please do not pass yourself off as a great way for people to hydrate. I want you to always be the sweet, stinging soft drink that I’ve enjoyed since I was a little, little … Continue reading
Youthful high-mindedness
Amusing, although littered with stereotypes and unusual ideas. Find a reading guy under a tree in a park? A reading guy has no condoms, money, or credit cards in his wallet, or when he does have money, it’s just for … Continue reading
Hitching a ride…
…it’s more fun in the Philippines. Spotted on February 22, 2012 along Commonwealth Avenue. I’m going to say that oh dear, this doesn’t look safe at all. Just a note: I was at the wheel, it was my boyfriend who … Continue reading
Pangingialam
I do not know when “pangingialam” became acceptable in place of “pakikialam” to the point where it’s being used in news reports. Nobody says “pangingibagay” or “pangingiusap” or “pangingisama”. “Pangingialam” sounds like a petulant child complaining about her malicious playmates.
The first Philippine online witchhunt for 2012
Every year, several people end up incurring the ire of what seems to be all the Filipinos in the world. There was Christopher Lao in 2011, known for driving his car into a flooded area and laying the blame on … Continue reading
Pressure
Spotted this bit of nonsense in a newspaper earlier. The baby is only three months old. Should he be manifesting musicality or signs that he has a good ear for music already? Should be crying in a musical way? If … Continue reading
Photochopped: Jinkee Pacquiao
Jinkee Pacquiao was never an unattractive woman. I’m even going to say she’s pretty, albeit not in that OMG-she’s-a-glittering-paragon-of-beauty kind of way. She’s not hard to look at at all, and she’s always had that moderately mestiza look going for … Continue reading
